At Drain Doctor, we use the modern technique of drain lining to make a wide range of drain repairs, which essentially provides the equivalent of a replacement pipe in areas where it can be difficult to gain access.
The liner that we use is created using a special dense impermeable felt, which fits the internal dimensions of a damaged pipe perfectly. The lining materials thickness can be varied dependent upon any required design specifications.
The new pipe material is similar to GRP (glass reinforced plastic). As a material it is superior in strength to that of the pipe that will be lined. The new pipe is moulded into a damaged pipe with a method called ‘inversion’ using water or air pressure and tightly fitting it to the wall of the existing, damaged pipe. The new pipe will be rigid as a result, leading to a stronger tougher pipe inside the existing one.
The resin generally takes about an hour to dry, after which the packer is withdrawn. The result is a strong, smooth lining on the whole interior of the pipe. The process only takes a few hours and is a low-cost solution for small drain repairs.
Our technicians have trained extensively for this technique of drain lining, and have the experience and equipment for relining drains, so if you would like to organise a drain lining, speak to Drain Doctor today.
